The Pierre Family Voting Principles

There are many issues discussed throughout elections, but none so critical as those listed here. I believe that these topics literally separate political parties and have a direct impact on the very fabric of America.

It is my humble opinion that these will changeour culture!  Rather than the crafted messages we hear on the radio, TV and other media, I believe we should select for our positions of trust based on these very challenging positions. These are the ones that count!

To me it is not critical where the reader stands on these issues as much as it matters to the candidates that are running for office.  We all need to better understand what is tearing at the very roots of these United States.  Eventually and inevitably, these elected representatives will have to cast their ballot to one side of these definitive lines.  It is going to come down to principles based on individual values.

If I am clear on where my representatives position themselves against these basic principles, I can expect a clear understanding of their vote.

Abortion. Either the candidate is “Pro Choice” or “Pro Life”. There are only two times I could condone killing ... first, of course is in time of war.  The second is in matters of self-defense (either for yourself or another who is unable) All other acts of killing are in my opinion considered murder and thus wrong.

Gay Rights. We either see this life-style as one we must correct or we continue to ignore, condone and thereby summarily respect.

Same Sex Marriage. As in the previous bullet, this becomes either a matter of dysfunction, or one the Bible missed.

“In God We Trust”. As we’ve witnessed over recent years, these words are being challenged and removed from places of government, learning and public access across the United States. At some point, we will only say or use these words in private.

Immigration. Obviously another hot button since all but the American Indians are immigrants, including myself.  I believe the real concern here is that if they expect to take advantage of the benefits of a US Citizen, one should pursue that citizenship.  Putting a wall around the US would not, in my opinion be the best method to control illegal immigrants.

A Few additional Points to Consider:
Local churches should be allowed to remain free from governmental interference  "That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish." Ephesians 5:25-27

1. Reflect a Christian lifestyle and character.   "I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me." Exodus 10:1-7;   "And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness." Ephesians 4:24-28

2. Christian Americans should endeavor to live their lives so that God can and will bless them and our nation.  "For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light..." Ephesians 5:1-11

3. Christians are to pray for their government leaders.  "I exhort, therefore, that first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority..."  I Timothy 2:1-3

5. Christians should elect to office those candidates who will uphold and mirror, in their personal lives, biblical righteousness.   "Righteousness exalts a nation; but sin is a reproach to any people." Proverbs 14:34
